File Renamer

Description:
Batch rename selected files from a directory to the specified prefix and extention, or keep it's own extentions.

Example of usage:
into folder c:\test exist three files named: file1.jpg, photograph.gif and album.exe
From the dir list you select the file1.jpg and the photograph.gif, you type "test" into the "rename prefix" field, 005 into "start from" field, yoy leave 1 into "Increment by" and leave the "Extention" field empty.
If you click the "Rename Selected Files" button, the program renames the file1.jpg into test005.jpg and the photograph.gif into test006.gif and leave the album.exe as is.

Features:
- Batech rename all file from a folder or just the selected.
- Leave their own extention or change all the files extention to the one specified by the user.
- Can rename any file with the specified start number and increment step. It even allows zero formating. For example if you type 001 as a "start from" value and 1 into "increment by" field the next file will renamed to 002 and not 2. This is very important if you want to have correct sorting of the files.
- Preview list of the rename files according to the selected.
- If there is a conflict name into the same directory the program skips the file (does not rename it).
- Filemanager. If you double click any file of the file list, FileRenamer tries to open it with the associated program.

Download and setup:
File Renamer is written using Visual Basic 6.0, and requires the VB runtimes to be properly installed in your system. So if you're experiencing runtime errors or your system indicates you are missing a VBRUNxxx.dll file then you probably need to install or update your VB Runtime .dll files.

The runtime files are available, free of charge, from Microsoft and you can download it from:
Microsoft.com
Download size: (1020 KB)
Contents: ADVPACK.DLL, ASYCFILT.DLL, COMCAT.DLL, MSVBVM60.DLL, OLEAUT32.DLL, OLEPRO32.DLL, STDOLE2.TLB, W95INF16.DLL, W96INF32.DLL

If you already have Visual Basic 6.0 runtime libraries installed, then just download the FileRenamer.zip, by clicking the "Download" icon, Unzip it (with Winzip or other related product) and run the FileRenamer.exe

TextSTAT v2.7

Description:
TextSTAT is a simple programme for the analysis of texts. It reads ASCII/ANSI texts (in different encodings) and HTML files (directly from the internet) and it produces word frequency lists and concordances from these files.

This version includes a web-spider which reads as many pages as you want from a particular website and puts them in a TextSTAT-corpus. The new news-reader puts news messages in a TextSTAT-readable corpus file.
TextSTAT now reads MS Word and OpenOffice files (OOo 1 (.sxw) and 2 (.odt)). No conversion needed, just add the files to your corpus...
In TextSTAT you can use regular expression which provides you with powerful search possibilities. The programme is multilingual. Because it uses Unicode internally, TextSTAT can cope with many different languages and file encodings.

This version includes everything you need to use TextSTAT with Windows. It comes as a single installation file. To install the programme, just unpack the file to a directory of your choice (you will be asked for the programme directory). To run TextSTAT, change to that directory and doubleclick on 'TextSTAT.exe'. That's it. If you decide to have a shortcut from the desktop or the start menu, you'll have to create the shortcut yourself.
Uninstall: Since TextSTAT doesn't change your registry or other system components, you can savely delete the directory in which you installed the programme. After that, TextSTAT will be completely removed from your system.

Folder Jockey v1.3

Description:
Folder Jockey is a Windows shell and desktop utility designed to save you time with easy-to-use shortcuts. Instead of always hunting through Windows Explorer to find the folder you need, just use Folder Jockey to go there immediately!

Folder Jockey lets you organize as many shortcuts to folders on your hard drive as you want. You can click the Folder Jockey tray icon at any time to go right to what you need. You can assign hotkeys to your folder shortcuts, too - for example, you can make Ctrl+Alt+D open your downloads folder instantly, instead of clicking Windows Explorer, clicking My Computer, clicking C:, clicking... you get the idea! With the Folder Jockey shell extension, setting a folder shortcut is as simple as right-clicking the folder.

Akamai Folder Jockey - Get to your folders fast.

How it works:
* Folder Jockey sits in your tray, which is where your clock is on your taskbar. Folder Jockey's "golden folder" icon lets you know Folder Jockey is active.
* Right-clicking the Folder Jockey icon on the tray gives you a fast menu which includes all of your folder shortcuts. Clicking a shortcut opens a new Windows Explorer window at the folder. This is sometimes called a tray launcher.
* You can add folder shortcuts from within Folder Jockey. Just left-click the Folder Jockey icon in your tray, then click the "New Shortcut" button on the folder shortcuts display. You can paste in a path, type it in, or select the folder visually. If you visually select the folder, you can also make shortcuts to network folders.
* Or, from Windows Explorer, right-click a folder you need a shortcut for, and select Add to Folder Jockey from the context menu. This is typically the fastest way to add a new shortcut. This is known as a shell extension.
* At any time you create a new shortcut or edit an existing shortcut in Folder Jockey, you can optionally specify a hotkey for the shortcut. A hotkey is a combination of keys that you press anywhere in Windows to immediately open an new Windows Explorer window at the folder for the shortcut.

Requirements:
Windows 98, ME, 2000, or XP.

AutoRuns for Windows v9.13

Description:
This utility, which has the most comprehensive knowledge of auto-starting locations of any startup monitor, shows you what programs are configured to run during system bootup or login, and shows you the entries in the order Windows processes them. These programs include ones in your startup folder, Run, RunOnce, and other Registry keys.

You can configure Autoruns to show other locations, including Explorer shell extensions, toolbars, browser helper objects, Winlogon notifications, auto-start services, and much more. Autoruns goes way beyond the MSConfig utility bundled with Windows Me and XP.

Autoruns' Hide Signed Microsoft Entries option helps you to zoom in on third-party auto-starting images that have been added to your system and it has support for looking at the auto-starting images configured for other accounts configured on a system. Also included in the download package is a command-line equivalent that can output in CSV format, Autorunsc.

You'll probably be surprised at how many executables are launched automatically!

Autoruns works on all versions of Windows including 64-bit versions.

sage

See the November 2004 issue of Windows IT Pro Magazine for Mark's article that covers advanced usage of Autoruns . If you have questions or problems, visit the Sysinternals Autoruns Forum.

Simply run Autoruns and it shows you the currently configured auto-start applications as well as the full list of Registry and file system locations available for auto-start configuration. Autostart locations displayed by Autoruns include logon entries, Explorer add-ons, Internet Explorer add-ons including Browser Helper Objects (BHOs), Appinit DLLs, image hijacks, boot execute images, Winlogon notification DLLs, Windows Services and Winsock Layered Service Providers. Switch tabs to view autostarts from different categories.

To view the properties of an executable configured to run automatically, select it and use the Properties menu item or toolbar button. If Process Explorer is running and there is an active process executing the selected executable then the Process Explorer menu item in the Entry menu will open the process properties dialog box for the process executing the selected image.

Navigate to the Registry or file system location displayed or the configuration of an auto-start item by selecting the item and using the Jump menu item or toolbar button.

To disable an auto-start entry uncheck its check box. To delete an auto-start configuration entry use the Delete menu item or toolbar button.

Select entries in the User menu to view auto-starting images for different user accounts.

More information on display options and additional information is available in the on-line help.

Taskbar Button Manager

Description:
Taskbar Button Manager is a simple utility that helps you arrange the buttons on your Windows taskbar in any way you want by using drag and drop. Moving your task buttons is very easy, no hotkey needed.

In addition to drag and drop you can also use a special program window for moving the taskbar buttons. You can hide running programs too, so they don't show on your taskbar. The program works in all situations – even when the taskbar buttons are grouped or when the taskbar is not located in the standard bottom area of the screen.

This program is free and does not contain spyware or adware of any kind. The maker of this program, Innovative Solutions, is strongly opposed to spyware or adware.

This program is designed to run on Microsoft Windows XP, including the first edition and Service Packs 1 and 2 (SP1, SP2).

Here is how to move a taskbar button using drag and drop:
* Move your mouse inside the taskbar button
* Press the left mouse button, and keep it pressed
* While keeping the left mouse button pressed, move the mouse to the place where you want to put the button
* Release the mouse button

The taskbar button will be dropped into the new location (where you have released the mouse button).

Note:
While moving the mouse you will see a blue bubble which informs you about the place where the button will be dropped. Please note that the bubble doesn't always appear - it appears only when you perform the operation slowly. If you drag and drop the taskbar buttons quickly, the taskbar buttons will be moved according to your drag-and-drop, but the blue information bubble will NOT appear. This feature is designed for expert users who want to quickly rearrange the buttons without visual noise.

How to arrange taskbar buttons using the Taskbar Button Manager window

If you double-click the Taskbar Button Manager icon in the system tray, the Taskbar Button Manager window will appear. This is an alternate way to move taskbar buttons. The window contains a list of taskbar buttons. You can select any taskbar button and press the green up and down buttons to move that taskbar button.

Each taskbar button has a checkbox which is by default checked. If you uncheck the checkbox of a taskbar button, that taskbar button along with the program window of that taskbar button will be hidden.
